Matt Kenseth grabbed the win at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Aaron's 312 Busch event. Kenseth shot out to a wide lead over Kyle Busch after a green/white/checker finish to win his third race of the season.

"We were concerned about that," Kenseth said of the final restart. "Kyle had a great engine in that car. Every time I'd go down the backstretch he'd catch me so I had to have a good restart."

Busch was very emotional post race having wanted to score the win for the 10 people lost in a plane crash last weekend at Martinsville and team owner Rick Hendrick, who lost his son in the crash. Unfortunately, he could not pass Kenseth and had to settle for the runner-up spot.

"My heart and prayers go out to the entire Hendrick family," said Busch. "I tried the best I could."

The race was extended to 208 laps from its original 203 after a multi-car crash in the closing laps of the race. Reed Sorenson began complaining of a vibration in the car and eventually slammed into the No. 21 Chevy of Clint Boyer with two laps to go.

It was a tough break for racing sensation Sorenson, who led 47 laps and looked like the car to beat at times during the event.

Point leader Martin Truex, Jr. encountered problems of his own at lap 183, when he got together with David Stremme. Truex, however, was the recipient of the 'lucky dog' rule getting his lap back and salvaging a ninth place finish.

"It's how we have been all year," said Truex. "This team just doesn't give up."

He leads Busch by 176 points, just losing a handful of points to Busch, entering Atlanta the margin was 208.

The weekend has been bright for Truex; he qualified for his first NEXTEL Cup start, and announced a multi-year deal with Bass Pro Shops. Who will sponsor his Busch ride next year as well as several Cup races. In 2006, the sponsor will go with Truex full time to the Cup series.
