Although Ken Schrader, driver of the No. 15 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series, is no stranger to the Texas Motor Speedway, he has never competed at Texas in the Busch Series. He has two Winston Cup starts there with a 21st place finish in 1998 and an 18th place finish in 1997.

Before Daytona, Schrader took his NASCAR Craftsman Truck team to Texas for a test session with his rookie truck driver Scott Hansen and had an opportunity to check out the newly configured speedway. "They made some major changes to the track," said Schrader. "I like the way they re-constructed it and I think it will be a lot better."

"I am excited to run in the Busch Series at Texas, especially in the Oakwood Homes car," said Schrader. "Texas is a really big market for Oakwood Homes. We will have a lot of guests there and I hope we can represent them well. It is a unique, fast, tough race track, and I am ready to race on it with the changes."

The team had originally planned on taking the car they ran at Atlanta Motor Speedway to Texas, but the No. 15 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet was involved in an accident at Atlanta. They will utilize the same car that they ran at Bristol, Dover and Rockingham in 1998.

"This will be my first trip to the Texas Motor Speedway," said Chris Carrier, crew chief of the Oakwood Homes Chevrolet. "I have heard Texas is a lot like Atlanta and it is pretty much a wide open track. I've heard from drivers that have tested there that the track has definitely improved since the changes."
