Kasey Kahne put the No. 38 Great Clips Ford on the pole for Friday night's bash fest at Richmond International Raceway. It is Kahne's second career Busch series pole award.

Kahne bested the field with a lap of 127.678 mph, to earn his first pole of the 2004 season.

"We just had a great qualifying lap," commented Kahne. "It's great to get our first pole of the season."

Kyle Busch qualified on the outside pole with a lap of 121.178 mph, "Of course we would have like the pole, but we are just glad to get a position up front for the start of the race. Hopefully we can stay out of trouble.

Robby Gordon was third, and continued to comment that he was not sure if he has a seat in the Cup series next year; and his primary effort may by his Robby Gordon Motorsports No. 55 Chevrolet.

"Right now the only plans I have are the Busch series plans," commented Gordon who is awaiting Richard Childress Racing and Cingular Wireless to renew his seat in the No. 31 Cup car.

Kevin Harvick and Mike Bliss close the top five.

Point leader Martin Truex, Jr. will take the green flag from the 6th starting spot. Currently, Truex leads Kyle Busch by 95 points.
