Chaffin secures sponsorship for IRP event.
Chad Chaffin and Day Enterprise, Inc. will come into this weekend's Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park with a new sponsor. Laborers International Union of North America -- Indiana District, will join Day Racing and Chaffin for the August 3rd event in the one-race sponsorship deal.
Laborers International Union of North American (LIUNA) has more than 800,000 members throughout 650 local chapters in North America. LIUNA represents workers in many different ways, including the operation of hundreds of pension, health and welfare, and training funds. LIUNA also initiates programs to create new job opportunities for its members and guarantee safe working conditions at job sites.
"LIUNA Indiana Laborers has been instrumental in the successful building of all major construction projects in the state of Indiana. Day Enterprise Incorporated is pleased to have support from the Indiana Laborers at Indianapolis Raceway Park," said team owner Wayne Day.
Driver Chad Chaffin has competed in 14 Busch Series events this season. His best finish came at Talladega in the spring where he battled from a 40th starting position to finish 12th. Chaffin has two starts at IRP, starting 10th in the 1999 event and finishing 20th in the 2000 event. The Smyrna, Tennessee native looks forward to running IRP again. "I have qualified pretty well there (IRP) both times, and I feel like we can go up there this year and have a great run. I am excited about representing the Laborers International Union of North America- Indiana District this weekend, as well as LIUNA members from all over the country," remarked Chaffin.
