Indianapolis, IN - Ashton Lewis, Jr. and the entire Civil Air Patrol Chevrolet crew are very excited about the upcoming Kroger 200 at the .686 mile Indianapolis Raceway Park. The last short track event this season was at Richmond on May 3rd, where Lewis had his career best finish of second place.

When asked about racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park, this is what Lewis had to say.

"This track is a lot like the short tracks that we grew up on. It's a little bit bigger than what we're used to on the Saturday night weekly racing events, but with these cars it makes you feel like you're on a ¼ mile in a late model."

He went on to add, "It's good short track racing, it's a good break for us to kinda get back to our roots. This is a night race and a one day show, it's just a lot of fun going to IRP. The racetrack itself has progressive banking to it, so it makes it real tough to pass, but its challenging and fun racing. We're really looking forward to going there."

The team had originally planned on taking the car that they ran at Gateway International Raceway, but a wreck on lap 24 of that event ended those hopes.

When asked about having to take a different car than originally planned, Crew Chief Charlie Lewis said, "We are going to take our car from Bristol. We qualified eighth in that car, so we are confident it will be a good competitive car at this track."

The entire Civil Air Patrol Chevrolet team feels like they have finally beaten the bad luck streak that had haunted them for the last couple of months. Driver Ashton Lewis, Jr. had a great weekend at Pikes Peak with his career best qualifying effort of third place, and his fourth top-10 finish this year (ninth place).
