FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 14, 2000) - HRT Motorsports, based in Dallas, is the only Hispanic-owned, driven, and sponsored team in NASCAR. Ironically, few Hispanics actually know about it. But that's something HRT (Hispanic Racing Team) is hoping to change. The new NASCAR Busch Series team, with driver Roberto Guererro, will make its Texas debut in the #72 HRT Chevy Monte Carlo at the April 1 Albertson's 300 presented by Pop Secret.

The Colombian-born Guerrero is a veteran of the Indy Racing League and has competed in the open-wheel series at Texas Motor Speedway.

"It's time that the Hispanic community be introduced to NASCAR," said Guerrero. "Texas Motor Speedway and HRT Motorsports are working to bring racing to Hispanic fans in Texas and the Southwest. I am proud of what HRT has accomplished and feel like HRT's involvement in NASCAR will explode."

HRT Motorsports was formed in November of 1999 by two
Cuban-American cousins: Rudy Rodriguez and Mike Vazquez.

Adding to the excitement about the Hispanic "explosion" into NASCAR, Texas Motor Speedway, along with HRT Motorsports and local Hispanic radio station KESS-AM, will present the "Latin Explosion." During race week Hispanic fan-centered events and activities will call on Latino's from across Texas to come and support HRT Motorsports at the Albertson's 300 presented by Pop Secret.

"We hope that HRT Motorsports is the bridge that introduces the very powerful and race enthusiastic Hispanic community to NASCAR," said team co-owner and Dallas resident Rodriguez. "We Hispanics are not a race, we are a culture - and racing is part of that culture."
