Chevy Adds More Star Power to Chevy Rock & Roll 400 Weekend
Clint Bowyer's No. 2 ACDelco Chevrolet to Showcase the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Special Race-weekend Paint Scheme
INDIANAPOLIS - Clint Bowyer's No. 2 ACDelco Chevrolet will feature a Red Hot Chili Peppers paint scheme for the Emerson Radio 250 Busch Series race on Sept. 8 as part of the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 weekend. Bowyer and Ed Peper, general manager of Chevrolet, unveiled the Monte Carlo SS paint scheme today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
"The Red Hot Chili Peppers paint scheme is another way we can bring more excitement to the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 weekend while highlighting Chevrolet's musical heritage," said Peper. "Chevrolet vehicles have inspired lyrics in more than 200 songs and no other brand has so influenced pop culture. We are excited to unveil this paint scheme with a music group that has been inspiring the music industry for over two decades."
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been touted as the biggest American rock band in the world today, having tallied more than 50 million in album sales. The group already had seven multi-platinum albums and eight number one Modern Rock hits when they issued their two-CD set, Stadium Arcadium in May. Led by their smash single "Dani California," the new album debuted in the number one spot in 28 countries and has already been certified platinum in the U.S.
"I'm definitely a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and I'm looking forward to having them on my ACDelco Chevrolet for the Chevy Rock & Roll weekend," said Bowyer, currently third in the Busch Series with eight top-five finishes this season. "I definitely like the group and their music. Who doesn't like the Red Hot Chili Peppers? I got to meet the band in Charlotte earlier this year and had a lot of fun talking with them and listening to their show at the race track."
Bowyer's Chevrolet is the second Monte Carlo SS race car that will feature a music themed paint scheme during the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 race weekend. The No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet driven by Kevin Harvick will showcase the Barenaked Ladies who will perform during a pre-race concert on Sept. 9.
In addition to being the race that sets the field for the Chase for the Championship, the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 is a unique collaboration among Chevrolet, Richmond international Raceway and NASCAR to unite pop and rock musicians with elite drivers in NASCAR while providing fun experiences for race fans throughout the weekend.
"This is the second year I've been a part of the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 and it's just a really unique event," Bowyer added. "It's neat that Chevrolet adds the rock and roll aspect to the race. I think it brings a lot to the table especially seeing all the cool paint schemes. I'm really looking forward to being a part of it."
