CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Dec. 12, 2000) Joe Gibbs Racing announced personnel changes for its two NASCAR Busch Series teams Tuesday.

Doug Richert was named team manager for the No. 4 Porter-Cable Power Tools team and the No. 18 MBNA Pontiac team. Jeff Purvis will continue as the driver of the No. 4 as will Jason Leffler for the No. 18. Richert will retain his position as crew chief for the No. 4 entry.

Steve de Souza, vice president of Busch and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series operations for JGR, is hoping the proven success in the company's Winston Cup Series program will work for its Busch teams as well.

"In placing Doug in this role, we believe it will be to the benefit of both racing teams," de Souza said. "We are setting this up very similar to the way our Winston Cup teams are with Jimmy Makars serving as team manager for both the No. 18 and No. 20 teams."

De Souza also announced that Tim Shutt has been promoted to crew chief of the No. 18, where he served as the team's car chief. -nascar.com-
