JASON KELLER --57-- Albertson's Taurus (Finished 3rd)
"We felt like we learned a little something in happy hour yesterday. The driver just couldn't get a good feel qualifying, but thanks to Albertson's, Ford and everybody involved. I'm just happy to be with this race team right now. It got a little slick out there, but we're happy."
DID YOU HAVE SOMETHING FOR BIFFLE ON THE FINAL RESTART?
"The driver made a little bit of an error coming up for that restart. I was kind of holding back to make sure they wouldn't get a run on me and, son of a gun, if they just didn't get away from me a little bit. I'm real proud of my guys. We tried a lot of things this weekend that we never would have run in the past. A lot of people kind of criticized us for running these Fords, but they sure were fast today. We just weren't quite fast enough, but we'll get there."
WHEN BIFFLE AND BODINE WERE GOING AT IT SO HARD, WERE YOU THINKING THAT
THIRD PLACE MIGHT WIN THE RACE?
"I thought I might get a chance at it, but we were good all day long. We just couldn't quite get there. We've been consistent all year long and after last year, to come in here and run third is pretty good."
GREG BIFFLE --60-- Grainger Taurus (Finished 2nd)
DID YOU THINK IT WOULD BE A BATTLE BETWEEN YOU AND TODD AT THE END?
"Yeah, I thought so. I tore up the right-front on that last lap. I got underneath Todd pretty good over there and I just couldn't get it to stick. I was a little bit loose and got after the throttle a little quick. It was unfortunate, but it was a good run for us. We just need to learn what all of these guys are doing with these cars and get as fast as they are."
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ON THE LAST RESTART?
"I saw what he was doing. He gave me a little brake check before he left and I knew he was gonna do that. I was down in first gear, so that helped us a lot and that got me a lot of ground on the 57 car. I got a great run on him in the corner and I started to get a little loose and came up the track. He thought I was under him, so he dropped me down and that's just racing on the last couple of laps. He kind of drove across my right-front corner as I was coming up the track and ruined the aero on the right-front. I was in trouble then, but that's racing for the last five laps."
THAT'S TWO STRAIGHT TOP FIVES. YOU MUST BE HAPPY.
"Yeah, I am. I'm extremely pleased. I thought we had a good chance of winning here today. The 00 is really strong and we're just gonna have to figure out how to be a little better."
HOW FRUSTRATING IS IT TO HAVE A BIG LEAD LIKE YOU HAD AND SEE IT GET
"We knew he was coming. We knew we couldn't beat him today. We just had to beat him with pit strategy or out-race him on the race track by being smarter than him because he had a faster car. It's that simple. He'd drive away from me on the straightaway. He was a lot better than me down in three and four and I was about as good or maybe a little better in one and two, but that's all we could do today."
JEFF GREEN --10-- Nesquik Taurus (Finished 5th)
YOU'RE LEARNING MORE AND MORE WITH THE FORD?
"I think it's more my driving style than it is the guys with the setups. We're getting closer to it, but for some reason I couldn't give any good feedback this weekend in practice. We got caught up there in the race and had a couple bad stops which got us further behind. We were fast enough to be third or fourth, but we want to be fast enough to win this thing, so we're gaining on it. It's just a little bit different stuff with the Ford Taurus than we had last year and we're gaining on the tires too. It's a whole learning curve and, hopefully, in the next couple of races we'll be in the hunt to win one of these things."
IS THE RACING BETTER?
"I don't know. It was a pretty darn good race from where I was and I hope it was for the fans. We're just working on it. It takes a little bit different setup and a little bit different feel for what I've got so far, but we're working on it."
A GOOD FINISH.
"The Nesquik Ford Taurus was good enough to be in the top five all day, we just had a couple of miscues on pit road that put us back there. Green flag racing, it's hard to make up track position. We were doing it, but it's hard to make up. We were just as good as the leader much of the time, but we were a straightaway behind him most of the day."
