NO OFF WEEKEND FOR SHERMAN - Even though this past week was a scheduled off weekend for NASCAR Busch Series competitors, Sherman spent his time fulfilling media and sponsor commitments. On Thursday, a film crew from NASCAR Nation toured Sherman's home in Wauconda, Ill., and followed the rookie driver and his wife, Kathleen, into downtown Chicago for a tour of the city. Then on Friday, instead of driving a stock car, Sherman spent the day driving golf balls during the Wight Canyon Invitational golf tournament in Lake Geneva, Wisc. He capped off his weekend with an appearance at the Wauconda Moose Lodge's annual Race Fest on Sunday.
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT - Sherman, driving the No. 10 Consort for Men/Hickory Farms Ford Taurus, will make his first start at DIS in Saturday's Dover 200 NASCAR Busch Series event. Last week, in preparation for the race, Sherman and the No. 10 ppc Racing team tested for two days in Dover. Saturday's race also marks the rookie driver's last trip to a track on which he has yet to compete.
CHASSIS INFORMATION - The No. 10 Consort for Men/Hickory Farms team is running chassis 'ppc 33' in Saturday's race. The car was last on track at Gateway International Raceway in July. The team will have chassis 'ppc 36' on the hauler as a backup for the event. The chassis was last on track two weeks ago at Richmond International Raceway.
ppc RACING AT DOVER - In nine NASCAR Busch Series starts at Dover International Speedway, the No. 10 ppc Racing team has collected one pole, one win, four top-five and four top-10 finishes and led 100 laps.
SHERMAN ON RACING AT DOVER - "Our test last week at Dover went fairly well. I was able to get seat time at a track I'd never seen before, and we ran times that were competitive with the other teams that were there. Tim (Shutt) and I have only been working together for a few weeks, so it was good for us to have the extra time to spend working on setups for this weekend's race. Now we can use the practice time on Thursday to fine tune the car for Saturday."
CREW CHIEF TIM SHUTT ON TESTING AT DOVER - "We tested at Dover last week, and it was the first time Brent and I have tested together. The test went well. We ran pretty good times in comparison to the cars that were there, and I'm looking forward to going to a track where I've had a little more time to work with the driver than I've had in the past couple of races."
HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Keith Barnwell, general manager of ppc Racing, celebrated his 46th birthday on Monday, Sept. 19, and team owner Greg Pollex will celebrate his 55th birthday on Thursday, Sept. 22.
