In the 1997 MBNA Gold 200, Elliott Sadler started eighth and finished sixth. Sadler ran in the top five throughout the majority of the 200-mile event, and even lead a few laps before he started battling a tight handling condition on his Phillips 66/Trop Artic Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Sadler finished the spring event at Dover in 21st position after qualifying 29th. Despite the team's performance in the spring event, Sadler says he likes racing at Dover and is looking forward to redeeming their spring race performance.

"I really am looking forward to going back to Dover," Sadler said. "We have really run good there in the past and I think we have a good setup for this weekend."

The No. 66 Performance Team will take the same car they finished sixth with at Dover last year. It's the same car Sadler uses to compete with at Darlington Raceway where he scored a fifth-place finish in the spring event.

"We're taking the same car we ran good with in the past at Dover," Sadler said. "We tried something new there in the spring race and it didn't work so we're carrying back "Old Faithful." We lead some of the race there last fall and hopefully it will be good for us again this year."
