BOBBY HAMILTON, JR. -25-Team Marines Taurus (Finished 3rd)
"The beginning of the race we were behind the 60 and 21 all race long. They were just the class of the field. We were a little bit tight and then on that last caution (with 20 to go) we came in and got four tires. They had the five-lap sprint and that's where we came up to third because those guys had two and we had four. Anytime you can get four over two you're gonna be faster and it paid off today."
HOW DOES THIS FIT INTO YOUR SEASON? "From race one all the way to race 36 or however many we run, it's a building deal. You've just got to build it one race at a time and keep doing the best you can do and get the most points. If you keep staying in the top five or top 10, it's gonna show at the end of the year in points and that's what the big deal is about it. If you run that way every race, then your wins will come."
HOW UPLIFTING IS IT TO FINISH THIRD? "It's pretty good for us. To get a top five once again and carry on through this point is what we've got to do. If we keep doing it every week, it'll work out for us."
WHAT ABOUT NASHVILLE NEXT WEEK? "We're not carrying back the same car, we have a brand new car that we've built, but the confidence level after the last month or so has been really high on the guys and everything. If you can't go back looking for a win, you can definitely go back and look for a strong performance again, especially after the setup we had. On long runs down there we were a fast car on long runs, so if we can just go back there and pull another top five out of there we'll be super-happy and, of course, getting a win at home would be huge."
