Shortly after taking the pole position for the Nextel Cup race, Ryan Newman scored the double by rocketing to the Busch pole in his sixth Busch series start this year.

Despite crashing on the second lap of his Cup qualifying effort, Newman seemed upbeat. "This is a great day for us. We feel really confident that we can run well in both races. Hopefully I will get another win."

David Stremme starts second, "We really wanted the pole, but we will take that. Second is a great starting spot for us."

Kevin Harvick, Jon Wood and Greg Biffle complete the top five.

"The car is really fast," said Harvick. "I am happy with it. We should have a good ride for Saturday."

Clint Bowyer, who is chasing Martin Truex, Jr. for the Busch series title, crashed his primary car during his time trial effort and will be forced to start at the rear of the field. Truex starts 10th.

Fifty-four cars attempted to qualify for the forty-three car field. Failing to make the show were Michael Waltrip, Kevin Lepage, Ron Hornaday Jr., Eric McClure, Chad Blount, Jeff Fuller, Chris Wimmer, Jorge Goeters, Steve Grissom, Brent Sherman and Tracy Hines.
