WALLACE ANXIOUS FOR NIGHT RACING AT DARLINGTON

Stacker 2 driver Kenny Wallace hopes to erase last week's misfortune at Talladega with a strong performance at Darlington. Wallace was involved in the field-depleting wreck at the beginning of the race, causing him to finish 35th and slip to 10th in drivers' points. This weekend Wallace will be focused more on racing the race track as opposed to other competitors when the Busch Series visits "The Track Too Tough To Tame." This will be the first-ever NASCAR Busch Series event held under the lights at Darlington Raceway. It's a new wrinkle on the excitement Darlington always provides. Wallace will also attempt to qualify the Bryan Heating and Cooling car in the Dodge Charger 500 Nextel Cup Series race.

KENNY WALLACE IN THE POINTS

After being involved in "The Big One" in Talladega, Wallace fell six spots to 10th in the points. However, the gap between fifth and 10th is only 61 points. Wallace is only 114 points from his previous position of fourth and is 336 points behind leader Carl Edwards. This time last year Wallace was 11th in the points and 309 points behind the leader. Owner Greg Pollex fell five spots to 12th in owners points.

KENNY WALLACE AT DARLINGTON...

Darlington is one of Wallace's favorite tracks due to its close proximity to home and because of the history of the Raceway. In 20 starts he has finished in the top-10 seven times and has posted three top-fives. He has finished in the top-20 in all but three races and has completed 98% of the laps. The last time Wallace finished outside of the top-20 was March 18, 2000, when he finished 31st. Wallace also won one of his 10 poles at Darlington on March 31, 1990. ppc Racing has also enjoyed success at Darlington. In 18 starts they have posted 13 top-10s and eight top-fives, including finishing first and third in Spring 2001.

KENNY WALLACE ON DARLINGTON...

"I can't wait to get to Darlington. Really excited about night racing to see what it is going to be like. It's one of my favorite all time race tracks.

"Every time I go to Darlington I feel like I have a shot to win. That's just the way I feel. I get so excited. There are a lot of good things about Darlington; it's close to home, you grab yourself a YJ Stinger and a bag of sunflower seeds and drive on down there, you are there in two hours. It kind of brings back the old style memories where it's just fun because you are so close to home."

On No-DNF streak coming to an end...

"Well, it's something that I have been really proud of. I hate it because I pride myself on running up front and not having any problems. A broken oil line put us out, not the wreck."

On Mother's Day Plans...

"I am going to tell my mother how much I love her and take her out to eat. I am going to show my appreciation to my mother because she is so wonderful. She raised two great brothers in Rusty and Mike and I am thankful for that.

"I love my mom. She was a good driver in her day. She won a lot of powder-puff races. I am going to gather everybody up and have a great old time."
