SPARTANBURG, SC (August 26, 2003) - Darlington Raceway is typically not a place where drivers will make friends. In March Team Yellow crossed the finish line in second place, rear spoiler first, in the most spectacular Busch series finish this season. With the Swamp Holly Orange Crew supporting him, Jamie McMurray is ready for another action packed weekend at Darlington.
Darlington Raceway has the reputation of being one of the most competitive tracks on the circuit and is a venue where drivers have to race the track every bit as much as they have to race each other. Team Yellow has a reputation of dedication, discipline and never giving up. This time, the team representing the best driving professionals in the business is ready to earn its stripes.
"When we were here in March, we just missed winning the race by fractions of a second, and we were backwards at the time!" driver Jamie McMurray said. "That last lap battle with Todd Bodine was probably the most fun I have had behind the wheel this year. This track has a reputation for being too tough to tame, but this team has already proved they have what it takes to conquer it. I'm definitely looking forward to another dramatic event here, I just want the nose to cross before the spoiler does this time."
Crew Chief Marc Reno said, "This No. 1 Dodge team just never stops finding ways to excel. They are always trying to improve, be it the car itself or the amazing pit stops they are capable of pulling off. I'm really proud of this team and I know that we will be very competitive this weekend. The Lady in Black does not scare the Swamp Holly Orange crew, and there is certainly no place that is truly too tough to tame."
The Winn Dixie 200 presented by PepsiCo at Darlington Raceway will be aired live on NBC and broadcast live on MRN beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT Saturday, August 30. Qualifying for the event will take place Friday, August 29 at 1:35 p.m. EDT and will be aired on the Speed Channel.
