No. 66 Phillips 66 Dodge Intrepid
NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division
March 16, 2002 - Darlington Raceway
Testing,Testing... The Phillips 66 team spent two days testing at Darlington Raceway last week. The team is testing at Bristol Motor Speedway today and tomorrow (Tuesday) and has plans to test at Nashville Superspeedway on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Casey Mears' Thoughts On Darlington... "Darlington is a blast. I like it because it's not your typical oval track. The great thing about Darlington is that turns one and two are different from turns three and four. Before we tested there, I played a NASCAR racing game on my X-Box computer at home to get a feel for the track layout. After making some laps there for real, I have to admit the actual track is a lot more fun."
Happy Birthday... Mears will celebrate his 24th birthday on Tuesday, March 12.
The Equipment... "Fast Bob" is the car the Phillips 66 team will compete with this weekend in the "DarlingtonRaceway.com 200" at Darlington Raceway. The only other appearance for "Fast Bob" this season was at North Carolina Speedway in February. The name was selected from a picture that Mears drew during an ARCA event last year at Talladega Superspeedway. The drawing depicted a driver (Fast Bob) and his trusty race car.
Hoopin' It Up... Mears spent last weekend enjoying some college basketball Big XII style as he attended the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, MO. The University of Oklahoma defeated Kansas University in the finals of tournament 64-55. The win helped the University of Oklahoma earn a No. 2 seed in the West Region for the 2002 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
