Jon Wood Quotes
"This should be a great racetrack for us. We've excelled this year on the high-banked intermediate tracks, and the way Chicagoland lays out is perfect for us. The key to Chicagoland is the throttle. If you can find a good balance with your car so you don't have to fight the steering wheel or the gas pedal to keep both ends of the car glued to the track, then you're going to be fast. The driver who can stay on the gas the longest is the driver who's going to win."
On the season:
"We had a great car at Daytona, but that long red-flag period at the end of the race made me sick. We had a plan to stay in the back to miss all the wrecks, then drive up to the front in the final 25 laps. We were 26th with 25 to go and we were 10th when the wreck started on the next-to-last lap. We had to park the car because I got carbon monoxide poisoning. We were in the big wreck, but we were going to finish the race, probably with a Top-10 finish. We didn't get out of the car because of the heat. I was fine with that. What made me sick were the fumes. We've had great cars every week and we're running in the Top 10. Now it's time to start collecting the kind of finishes we deserve."
Crew Chief Jay Guy
"We've spent a lot of time on the small details for intermediate tracks since we spend half of our season racing on them. Jon has a great knack for these kinds of tracks because he loves to go fast. He has a great feel for what the car needs. We tested there last month and we leaned some things that should help both of our teams. This could be a breakout week for us."
