Jason Keller Quotes:
Lowe's Motor Speedway... Lowe's Motor Speedway is the home track for most of the NASCAR teams, adding more pressure on the teams to be successful. Keller and the Albertsons team have an "all or nothing" type of relationship with the Charlotte track. Keller was unable to finish in the top 10 last season, but had two top-five finishes in 2001.
"Charlotte is an extremely difficult track," said Keller. "We either run really well or really bad, we don't seem to have a middle ground. These races are extremely important to every race team for many reasons. As a Busch Series team this is a track that if you're successful, people notice. The Winston Cup regulars have already had an extra week of practice on the track. If a Busch Series team goes out there, runs competitive and factors in for the win, the team gets the recognition and the bragging rights they've worked hard for. Also, the guys that work in the shop get to come to the track and see their countless hours of work out there competing. You want to run well for them so they get to feel the excitement around the team and enjoy the success they help accomplish.
"We are taking one of the only 2003 Ford Taurus' to Charlotte that we have run more than once. This car sat on the pole in Texas and ran really well in Las Vegas. We have a pretty good handle on this particular Albertsons Ford. We've figured out some of the cars likes and dislikes that should prove to be extremely helpful this weekend."
The importance of a late draw...
"Charlotte is by far the most temperature sensitive track on the circuit," said Keller. "If the sun is out the track is so fast and slick it's difficult to control your car. But if it is cool and cloudy you will still feel the speed, but your car grips in the corners extremely well. That is why a late draw in qualifying is so important. It gives the track time to cool. If you are one of the first cars to qualify, you probably won't qualify up front. We've qualified well here before in the spring. I'm confident in the team and the Albertsons Ford we are taking that we will see similar success this Friday."
