KASEY KAHNE FAST FACTS NO. 38 GREAT CLIPS/SPY VS SPY JR. DODGE
KAHNE LOOKS TO END CAREER WITH GREAT CLIPS ON HIGH NOTE - Kasey Kahne, driving the No. 38 Great Clips/Spy vs. Spy Jr. Dodge, will make his final start for Akins Motorsports this Friday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway. In 73 starts with Akins Motorsports, Kahne has led 395 laps, posted two victories, 16 top-fives, 31 top-10's, and grabbed three poles. He also finished seventh (2003) and 11th (2004) in the NASCAR Busch Series driver point standings.
KAHNE'S RESULTS AT LOWE'S - In seven NASCAR Busch Series starts at the 1.5-mile speedway, Kahne has posted two top-10 finishes. Kahne sat on the pole in the spring event and led 40 laps, however a crash on lap 53 took him out of contention and he finished 41st.
TEAM OWNER DOUG STRINGER ON KAHNE - "Kasey Kahne has helped Akins Motorsports raise the bar of competition to where it needed to be in the NASCAR Busch Series. In 2003, when we finished the season seventh in points, he surpassed the goals that the team had set. His efforts and desire to win have filtered throughout the team and given us the needed vision to look to the future with the optimism of beating the other 42 teams."
KAHNE'S THOUGHTS ON THIS WEEKEND - "I'm excited to get back in the Great Clips car this weekend. Hopefully I can take some momentum from last weekend's win at Kansas and go to Victory Lane one more time for Great Clips."
"I have to thank Great Clips and Akins Motorsports for giving me a good start in the NASCAR Busch Series. They have been a big part of my career and they have helped me get to where I am today."
IN THE NEWS - Akins Motorsports owner Doug Stringer named Anthony Joseph Foyt IV, as the driver of the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge for the last four races of 2005 and the entire 2006 NASCAR Busch Series season. Foyt's first NASCAR Busch Series event will be the Sam's Town 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park on Oct. 22.
CHASSIS INFORMATION - The Great Clips team is taking chassis No. 36 to Lowe's. This is the same car that Kahne drove to Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this season. The car also competed in the June Dover event (started 15th, finished 13th, Tyler Walker driving).
GREAT CLIPS DODGE TRANSFORMED - On Oct. 14 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Kahne and the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge will sport a special paint scheme featuring Spy vs. Spy Jr. from the upcoming MADKIDS magazine comic strip.
