Although he's only raced there one time before, Buckshot Jones has already developed a healthy respect for Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR's "fastest race track."

Jones will try to tame the 2.66-mile superspeedway this weekend in is No. 00 Bayer Aspirin/Alka-Seltzer Pontiac in the NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division Touchstone Energy 300. The race is set for Saturday.

"I have always thought this track was just incredible," Jones said. "I feel that it's a very mentally demanding track and you must use your head and time things right. You can lose postions here very quickly."

Jones started 11th but finished 38th in his only NASCAR Busch Series start at Talladega Superspeedway last April. A handling problem on lap 117 forced him out of the event.

The No.00 Bayer Aspirin/Alka-Seltzer Pontiac Jones is utilizing this weekend in the Touchstone Energy 300 is the same car that qualified fifth and finished fourth at Daytona International Speedway in February.

Jones plans to compete in five NASCAR Winston Cup races in 1998 with Aquafresh as primary sponsor. One of the five races on his NASCAR Winston Cup schedule is the October 11th race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Jones is currently seventh in the NASCAR Busch Series point standings with 965 points. He is coming off a 12th-place finish at Hickory after a pair of 28th-place finishes at Bristol and Texas, respectively. Source: NASCAR Online
