Scott Riggs On Bristol: Scott Riggs, driver of the No. 10 Nestle Nesquik Ford Taurus is looking forward to his first Busch Series start at Bristol Motor Speedway.
"Bristol reminds me of some of the tracks that I grew up on," said Riggs. "It has a lot of the same qualities that Orange County Speedway and Southern National Speedway has."
Riggs competed in the NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Division at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC and Southern National Speedway in Kenly, NC. Between the two tracks he amassed 37 wins, 49 top-fives and 61 top-tens in eight years. Riggs won the track championship at Southern National Speedway in 1994 and the mid-season championship finishing second in the points at Orange County Speedway in 1996.
Riggs on Testing at Bristol: "We only ran 120 laps in testing because of the rain," said Riggs, "but it was 120 laps more than I had run in ristol. "
Riggs enjoys running on the short tracks and knows patience will be a key factor at Bristol.
"Running at Bristol will be a good time," said Riggs. "I learned in testing that I need to qualify well, and stay consistent all day to take the Nesquik Ford Taurus home in a top-five. I will also need a lot of patience. Bristol is another one of those tracks where patience is a key factor, it will help me to maintain consistency, and that is what this team needs right now."
Equipment: The Nesquik Racing Team is taking the same car to Bristol Motor Speedway that Jeff Green dominated the fall Rockingham race with in 2001, leading 118 of the 197 laps. The race was red flagged on lap 193 to clean up a multi-car accident and the cars sat on the track for approximately seven minutes. When the track went green with one-to-go a fuel pick-up problem cost the Nesquik Racing Team the win. The car finished in 9th-place. In addition to Rockingham, this car competed last year at Nashville (outside pole, led 51 laps, finished 8th), Kentucky (outside pole, led 69 laps before getting involved in an accident) and St. Louis (qualified 3rd, finished 5th).
