Mayfield is Back -- NEXTEL Cup Series veteran, Jeremy Mayfield will be back behind the wheel of the No. 64 Miller High Life Light Dodge this weekend at Bristol. This is Mayfield's third race with RWI Racing, Inc.; he finished 21st at Daytona and 24th at Vegas.
On the Tube -- Mayfield will join his car owner, Rusty Wallace this Friday night for SPEED Channel's popular show, Trackside. The hour long show will air live at
7:00 p.m. EST from the mobile stage outside of Turn 4. Mayfield will qualify his Cup car and then head over to the stage to join the show's hosts' Larry McReynolds, Darrell Waltrip, Jeff Hammond and Steve Byrnes to talk about his season so far in the NBS, his relationship with former Penske teammate and car owner, Rusty Wallace and how his NBS ride helps him get ready for his big day on Sunday.
Chassis No. 6405 -- Blake Bainbridge and his MHLL team will take Chassis No. 6405 to the track this weekend in Bristol. This is the same car that Billy Parker drove at Dover last year and Rusty finished seventh with at Michigan in 2004.
Chasing the Championship -- The RWI Racing, Inc No. 64 will make a run at the 2005 Owner's Championship for the first time since their inception in 2004. The team will try to covet the owner's trophy with four different drivers throughout the 35-race schedule. After a sixth place finish this past weekend in Mexico; the team sits 37 points out of third and 119 points out of first place. Only one other time in the history of the NBS has the driver/owner championship been won by two different teams; the RCR organization did it with drivers Kevin Harvick and Johnny Sauter in 2003.
Mayfield on racing at Bristol--
"Bristol's a fun track. It's a great race for the fans, but as a driver, you have to have luck on your side. But I think we have a really good car, Rusty tested here and Blake has a good set-up from last year. I've only been with this team for two races, but I'm very impressed with Blake and this entire organization. Rusty is a great guy that will do whatever it takes to help this team win this owner's championship."
Mayfield on running for the Owner's Championship--
"This is an incredible race team and I'm proud to be a part of Rusty's organization. With the knowledge that Blake has to bring to this team, and the talented line-up of drivers we have to compete with; there's no doubt in my mind that we can't do this as a team. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year in the NBS."
Blake Bainbridge on the challenges of working with three different drivers--
"I feel pretty good about this year so far. It's a little difficult working with a different driver every week, but at the same time I have four really great drivers. We're sitting seventh in the points right now, 100 points out of second going into Bristol and I think that we definitely have something to work with. I'm really proud of this team so far this year; being our first year running a full schedule and Bristol is only the 22nd race this team has ever run. We have high goals and I feel like this is right where we need to be to reach them."
