HAMPTON, Ga (March 18, 2006) -- GOODYEAR TIRE UPDATE: Saturday at 36 laps to go -- Greg Stucker, director of race tire sales and marketing --

"We are seeing heavy wear on right-rear tires. Atlanta is typically where we see the heaviest wear on the circuit. The 2006 tires Goodyear brought to Atlanta are unique to this track. It is formulated to deal with what we see here. It has tougher compounds on both sides of the car than last year.

The tires were tested in January by Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards.

It is apparent the cars are loose because of the wear on the right-rear tires. It is unfortunate that some of them started the race loose because of the compound and didn't have much opportunity to adjust and tune the balance.

Based on the test information, the tires should be sufficient for a gas stop on a balanced car.

Plenty of Busch cars have had no problem all day long. As for the Nextel Cup race Sunday, we have seen that what occurs in a Busch race is not always indicative in Cup."
