TEAM MARINES RACING NOTES & QUOTES:
Hamilton, Jr. hopes to have better luck at the Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, a track he considers to his favorite on the NASCAR Busch series circuit.
Bobby Hamilton, Jr. on Atlanta:
"I have been looking forward to this race all year long. Atlanta is my favorite track on the circuit, though if you looked at my stats you would wonder why. I have been haunted with bad luck there. Dale Earnhardt is the man who taught me how to get around that track. I ran a Cup race there in 2000. I was a lap or two down and Dale Earnhardt came up behind me and passed me. So I thought to myself, "why not see what this guy is doing, he knows a thing or two about this place." So, I followed him around for several laps, running the same lines he was, and my lap times improved dramatically. It was a line I never would have tried on my own but it worked. Since then, every time I get on the race track at Atlanta I am reminded of Dale and that little lesson I learned from him."
Fred Wanke on Atlanta:
"I haven't raced at the Atlanta Motor Speedway since 1995, so I am looking forward to going back again. We had a great test there a couple of weeks ago and worked strictly on our race setup. The new left side tires Goodyear is bringing for Atlanta made finding the perfect setup a bit challenging. It's just a different tire with characteristics that make it difficult to get the car to handle the way you want it to. But I think we found one that works for us. This is a good track for Bobby and one of his favorites so with a little bit of luck it should be a good weekend for the Team Marines."
The No. 25 Team Marines participated in a test session at Atlanta Motor Speedway two weeks ago and focused solely on their race setup.
