AJ FOYT IV AND THE GREAT CLIPS TEAM LOOKING FOR STRONG RUN IN ATLANTA & A GAIN IN THE POINTS STANDINGS
* This weekend will mark Foyt's first career start at Atlanta Motor Speedway
* In the last three NASCAR Busch Series events at Atlanta Motor Speedway, dating back to 2002, the No. 38 Great Clips team has scored three top-10 and two top-five finishes.
* The No. 38 Great Clips team, which currently sits 37th in the owner's points standings, looks to make up some ground in the points race with a strong run in this weekend's Nicorette 300. Their goal? A top-15 finish.
FOYT IV ON RACING AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY:
"This will be my first time racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway but I'm looking forward to it. I've spent this week going over some tapes of past races and talking with my spotter, Elton Sawyer (former NASCAR Busch Series driver), so I have a better idea of what to expect this weekend. Atlanta is a high speed, multiple grove race track with a lot of side by side racing that is a lot of fun for the drivers as well as the fans. What everyone seems to like best about this track is that you can run anywhere on the track that you want depending on how your car is handling. If you're not handling on the bottom you can move up to the middle or the top, wherever you are more comfortable and your car is fastest. I think it's going to be a lot of fun."
CREW CHIEF, KEN DAVIS, ON ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY:
"The Atlanta race is one the entire Great Clips team is looking forward to," said Davis. "For the last two years we have had the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge running up front and in contention for the win but both times a late-race caution has killed our chances. I think AJ is going to be well-suited to the Atlanta track. It's fast, multi-grooved race track that is a lot like what he is used to in the IRL. We'd like to repeat our previous success at Atlanta this weekend with AJ and in order to do that we are going to have to give him car that can contend. We struggled with an ill-handling car all day in Las Vegas so this week we are going to focus mainly on our race runs during practice in order to give AJ the car he needs to be competitive. It's been a bumpy season thus far, so we would like to get things turned around here at Atlanta."
EQUIPMENT INFORMATION: The No. 38 Great Clips team will compete with chassis #45 this weekend in Atlanta. Chassis #45 is an old favorite of the Great Clips team dating back to 2004 and has three top-10 finishes at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
