No. 22 Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger News and Notes
This Week’s Challenger… The Penske Racing Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger team will use chassis PRS-214 during Friday night’s Royal Purple 200 at Darlington Raceway. Keselowski last drove this chassis to a 10th-place finish at Auto Club Speedway in March.
The No. 22 Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger in 2011... After nine events, Brad Keselowski and the reigning champion No. 22 Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger team sit eighth in the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) owner point standings. The team is coming off a fifth-place finish in the Bubba Burger 250 last Friday at Richmond International Raceway – the team’s fourth consecutive top-five result.
Brad Keselowski gives his assessment on his Nationwide Series season thus far “It took a few races, but I think we’re close to returning to our winning ways with the No. 22 Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger. This is, basically, a brand-new team and we needed some time to figure each other out. We’re on a nice streak of top-fives at the moment and we’ve had cars capable of winning at several tracks this year. Darlington always provides us with one of the toughest tests of the year, but we are working well together and I think we all expect to contend for the win, no matter the track. It would mean a lot to me if I could go to Victory Lane at Darlington, a place where names like Petty, Yarborough, Pearson and Earnhardt have won.”
Crew chief Todd Gordon on preparing a car for Richmond International Raceway “I am a big fan of Darlington. You run a different groove, up against the wall, that is unique from most of the other tracks that we visit. You have to give your driver a car that will turn in the center of the corners, but one that also keeps its forward bite off the corner. In turn, the driver has to exhibit good car control so that he can run right next to the outside wall without picking up a ‘Darlington Stripe.’ When we get back there this time I think we’ll see a track that is slowly getting back to the old Darlington, one that wore tires out quickly and put strategy directly into the hands of the driver and crew chief. I think that’s something we all want to see because it’s another variable that makes Darlington such a cool and unique place.”
