Blake Bechtel Joins Bechtel Racing as VP of Operations; echtel Racing BSeeks 2010 Sponsorship for Trevor Bayne
Charlotte, N.C. (July 27, 2009) -- On the heels of an exciting weekend for Bechtel Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing and Trevor Bayne, Gary Bechtel would like to announce the addition of his son to the Bechtel Racing team.
Blake Bechtel, the youngest son of Gary Bechtel, will come on board as the Vice President of Operations. He will assist in day-to-day activities of Bechtel Racing and help in the search of a sponsor for the 2010 season.
"I am really excited to finally be involved in racing," said Blake Bechtel. "I have always followed racing since my dad was involved in the sport the first time around. I am just excited to see what kind of success my dad and I can have together."
Bechtel Racing is currently working with Michael Waltrip Racing in a partnership to put Bayne behind the wheel for a total of 12 NASCAR Nationwide Series races this season.
"Bechtel Racing was excited about the opportunity to be able to purchase several races with MWR this year for Trevor," said Gary Bechtel. "When Aaron's offered us four more races in exchange for sponsorship on the races we already purchased, we jumped at the chance. This gives us the opportunity to run Trevor on several different size tracks so he will be ready to run for the championship next year. We know this is aggressive, but he has shown everyone he is a true racer and is up for the challenge."
Bechtel Racing is seeking a full-time sponsor for Trevor Bayne in the 2010 season. The team would like to compete in all 35 NASCAR Nationwide Series races next season and hopefully run for the championship.
Bayne has driven MWR's No. 99 Toyota Camry in six NNS race this season with a 6.6 starting average and a 16.3 finishing average, including last weekend's pole position and career best-finish of seventh at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
