CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES PARTS AMERICA 150 PRACTICE / PRE QUALIFYING NOTES
BORIS SAID (#44 Federated Auto Parts Ford) -- (Second practice) Right at the end of the back straight-away, I was off the gas turning into the Inner Loop, and I lost the power steering, and as I coasted in, I looked down and had no oil pressure, so I shut it off. I guess something locked up in the motor and just knocked the belts off. It was a good motor, and they usually run all weekend, no problem, so I think it was just one of those abnormalities that happens. We usually have two or three motors, but there are three (Robert) Yates teams here, so we can all interchange. Having a problem with a Yates motor hardly ever happens, so it must just be some part failure or something.
TAMMY JO KIRK (#48 AER American Engines Chevrolet) -- I practiced the truck and that allows me to be eligible for a provisional, so what we're going to do is just wait it out and see who doesn't make the field and try to use my provisional and start the truck and then let them run the race. Either that or I'll run the race for them. We'll just have to go from there. The 48 truck's extremely fast. Ron's done a great job. He knows this race track. He really knows how to road race and we would love it if it would rain qualifying out and I could start and he could finish because I just know we would have a good chance to win this race. We'll just see how things go and go from there.
