Timothy Peters looking to keep momentum going in Texas

After another top ten finish at Dover, 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader Timothy Peters is looking to break into the win column at Texas Motor Speedway in the WinStar World Casino & Resort 400. Peters has had one win every season in the CWTS since 2009 and wants to keep that streak going.

“It would be awesome to keep the streak going here. This is a track that I want to do well at more than any of them because the result column isn’t up to my standards. I can’t wait to hit the race track here shortly with our Tundra and start working hard on the speed,” Peters said.

Peters had struggled on 1.5 mile tracks during his CWTS career. His first win on a 1.5 mile track came last year at Las Vegas and it helped turn the team’s luck around, as Peters recalls.

“Last year at Vegas, taking that checkered flag was like a weight [being] lifted off my shoulders, personally. Since joining Red Horse, [it] seems like we won at the big and small tracks but not the bread and butter tracks such as the mile and a half,” Peters said.

Peters did not seem to be worried about Johnny Sauter nipping at his heels for the points lead, especially after Sauter is coming off of a third place finish at Dover and is tied for second with Matt Crafton, just one point behind Peters for the points lead.

“Johnny’s had a lot of success here, he’s always strong on mile and a halts. They have a good program, but we have a good program too, and we feel like we can beat them on any given night,” Peters said.

2014 started out to be a good year for Peters, with consistent finishes in the top 15 to keep him in the points lead by the slimmest of margins over Crafton and Sauter, who have both had one finish of 20th or worse.

“This year, we’ve started out well, we ran up front, we led laps in just about all the races and that means a lot,” Peters said.
