Ron Hornaday, No. 33 Camping World Silverado, Started 3rd, Race Winner:
You have been a champion three times over and now you have picked up your 35th win, but you've never at Texas Motor Speedway. How special is it?
"This is Texas right? We do run good here and I have to thank Eddie (Gossage) and everyone here. This is a great race track and I have to thank the fans her, they always make it exciting and everything's big. We've always had good trucks here but to pull it off here and to have Benson back there and Jack because he probably had the truck to win it if the race had gone green.
"Rick Ren figured out what to do to this Camping World Chevrolet Silverado there at the end and to hold Kyle off and Benson, I really didn't think I had them. I don't know how I got them on the restart, or if he spun his tires or what. I just held it low and knew I could make him air tight."
What was going through your mind when that last caution came out?
"I thought, darn, I just lost the race. I've led a lot of races with Kyle Busch back there and my hat's off to him to fly all this way to come up to run second. That says a lot to that team. They put a good truck underneath him and he's a heck of a little driver and I appreciate him making our team step up to the plate in this NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series."
You talk about you've had a lot of wins, your 35th and we talk about Texas hear. I see a different look on your face. This one is special for you isn't it?
"It is the biggest win right now. I tell you other than Daytona, Texas is a race that I've wanted to win. I've always wanted to win Lowe's and we did that last year and we've run good there. You know we've got these things figured out and you've got to get through the headaches. When I saw that yellow come out as we were coming to the white flag, I said aw darn, I just lost this race. But Kyle drove me clean and I've got to thank everybody. Goodyear gave us a good tire and they wore out and got slippery. I've never run the top here at Texas and to see what this Camping World Chevrolet did, it just says a lot for KHI and all these guys.
"I will tell you what, Jack Sprague (Hornaday's Kevin Harvick, Inc. teammate) had the best truck on that one run. Rick (Ren, crew chief) changed the air pressures on that last run and I didn't think I had anything for him because we had a problem third gear right now. Come up off the corner and (Johnny) Benson was getting us.
"First of all I have to thank Camping World, Chevrolet, Kevin and DeLana (Harvick), this is awesome.
"This is the truck we ran at Lowe's and wrecked the right front, Todd (Bodine) got in to us. Texas, we have been running good here, man, I don't know how many laps I led here. Eddie Gossage and all the folks here at Texas, just put on a great show and I finally won one here.
"Of course I am out of breath; I am actually happy Kevin (talking to team owners via TV). This is cool Thank you DeLana, thank you very much for everything. This is awesome."
RICK REN , Crew Chief No. 33 Camping World Silverado:
"All these years, all these races that he has dominated, first time he (Ron Hornaday) has ever won. That is the most excited I have heard him at the end of a race. I mean he is screaming YAHOO, we won Texas. He has wanted to win here so bad; it is such a great race track. We have just been come up short, we had both races won last year but came up short. I think it is like one of those, I always wanted to win Eldora, it took me lots of years, but I finally won at Eldora once. I don't know, it is just one of those things, when you want something so bad, you don't think it is ever coming."
