CHRIS FONTAINE LEADS NCWTS TALLEDEGA RACE IN HIS FIRST TIME AT THE TRACK
Chris Fontaine led 15 laps driving the Glenden Enterprises Toyota Tundra #84 at Talledega Superspeedway in Saturday's NCWTS race, before a late race caution allowed several trucks to get by him.
Then, when a red flag caused a green-white-checkered restart, Fontaine had an ignition failure on the restart, relegating him to 19th place for the race.
Fontaine came to Talledega with a new manufacturer, Toyota, a new bright blue, bright yellow, and bright red paint scheme, and new speed as he qualified the #84 in the sixth spot to start the race.
He ran 82 of the 94 laps in the top 15 during the race. His average position was eighth.
Fontaine's mid race position was seventh and he was first with 10 laps to go.
He received eight place in the driver rating by NASCAR with a 96.6.
He was the eighth fastest driver late in a run at 193.876 mph.
He had 3 of the fastest laps run in the field.
Fontaine's green flag speed was 192.895 mph.
He ran 82 laps in the top 15.
Fontaine was second only to Ron Hornaday, Jr. in laps led during the race.
It was his first time racing at Talledega.
