DODGE CALIFORNIA TRUCK STOP 300 MESA MARIN RACEWAY APRIL 10, 1999
· TEAM RC'S RECORD AT MESA MARIN IS IMPRESSIVE Stacy Compton knows his way around Mesa Marin Raceway's half-mile track. Team RC finished third in last year's race after qualifying on the outside pole. Compton had his best finish of his rookie season in 1997 here at Mesa Marin, finishing second. "We've always run good here," said Compton. "This track is a lot like New River Valley Speedway back home, a quick half-mile track with plenty of action."
· PACE YOURSELF, WE'VE GOT A LONG WAY TO GO The race is a 300-lap event that usually takes two hours to complete. "You have to pace yourself," Compton stated. "It's a tough race and the track surface gets very slick. We were leading last year and cut a tire, but still had a strong finish. We'll be there in the end."
· GREAT START FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP RUN Team RC has collected three top-five finishes in the first three races of the '99 season and is currently second in the NASCAR Craftsman point standings with 490 points. Ron Hornaday is first with 535 marks. Last week at Evergreen Speedway, Compton finished fourth. It was his eighth consecutive top-ten finish on short tracks in the NCTS.
· KING OF THE HILL RETURNS The No. 86 RC Dodge will have a new look this weekend at Mesa Marin Raceway. Royal Crown is running a sweepstakes with the animated comedy show, 'King of the Hill' that runs on FOX-TV. The Dodge truck will feature Hank, Peggy and Bobby Hill on the quarter panels with Hank on the hood and the rear deck lid. The promotion is featured on 20 million RC packs and will be a part of the American Dream Sweepstakes.
