DOVER,DE (May 25, 2001) - For nearly three-quarters of last year's inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Dover Downs International Speedway, Mike Wallace and his No. 2 Team ASE mount dominated the action. A late-race accident dashed his chances of victory and left the team feeling cheated out of a win. Armed with a new driver in Scott Riggs, the Team ASE unit returns to this year's MBNA E-Commerce 200 with a resolve to retrieve the 'one that got away.'

"It's going to be a great race," said Riggs, who guided his Team ASE Dodge to a victory earlier this season at Martinsville, VA. "My team dominated the Dover race last year until a late-race mishap with a couple laps to go took them out of the event. I know we'll have a good set-up.The guys know what it takes to get around Dover, so I'm really looking forwardto it."

Riggs also competed in last year's Dover NCTS bow driving the IMPACT Motorsports No. 86 Dodge to a 19th-place finish. The Bahama, NC pilot knows he is in much better equipment this time around and hopes to make a charge at his second win of the season.

"That first win at Martinsville was huge for me and my team," said Riggs. "Now that I've gotten my first win out of the way we can all relax a little and focus on the championship race. We've been working hard on consistency and finishing in the Top-5. As long as we do that, more wins will come and we'll stay in the hunt for this Craftsman Truck Series title."

At the series' last stop at Pikes Peak International Raceway, inclement weather forced qualifying to be canceled setting the field according to 2001 owner points. As the series point leader, Riggs started the event from the pole position. After hanging around the Top-5 for most of the afternoon, the second-year Truck Series pilot finished in the runner-up spot for the second time this year, recording his seventh consecutive Top-5 in as many races. "Pikes Peak was a good race for us because we got another Top-5 and that keeps us where we need to be in the points race," explained Riggs who is 80 points in front of second-place Joe Ruttman. "We just need to keep our momentum rolling at Dover. It's a really fast, high-banked racetrack, just the type of track I'm comfortable with. Based on how the team ran at Dover Downs last year, I think we've got a great shot at putting the Team ASE Dodge in Victory Lane."

The MBNA E-Commerce 200 at Dover Downs International Speedway will take the green flag Friday, June 1 at 4p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The eighth race of the 2001 NCTS tour will be broadcast live on MRN Radio and will telecast on a same-day, tape-delayed basis by ESPN at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) also has a long involvement in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. As the primary sponsor on the No. 2 Team ASE entry, the non-profit organization has been able to highlight its efforts to provide the highest quality professional technical training and certification at all levels of vehicle maintenance and repair. In addition to ASE's racing involvement, the organization is active in numerous civic, charitable, educational and humanitarian activities.
