No. 52 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet Loudon Notes & Quotes
Hansen at Loudon: Scott Hansen, driver of the No. 52 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet, has never competed at New Hampshire International Speedway.
"I have never been to Loudon before, but I do not believe that it will affect my chances of running well," Hansen said. "In fact, I think it will help me that I have never competed there. Two weeks ago at Nazareth I thought that I would be at a disadvantage to the other competitors because I had never been there, especially since many drivers had told me that Nazareth is such a difficult track to figure out, but I finished third. I didn't have any preconceived ideas about what I needed in the truck and about certain lines to take around the track. I had to rely solely on the Oakwood Homes Racing team to give me the best handling truck and we just worked together throughout the race weekend to make the truck handle its best. Our teamwork paid off and I hope we can have the same success at Loudon." Equipment: The Oakwood Homes Racing team is taking the same truck to Loudon that finished 10th earlier this year Bristol and qualified seventh at Milwaukee. It also sat on the pole last year in Loudon. The truck is named "Elvis" because it raced in Memphis earlier this year.
"This is the same truck that sat on the pole at Loudon last year," said crew chief Wally Brown. "I feel we have made the truck even better because we have worked really hard on improving the aerodynamic package. The Oakwood Homes Racing team has struggled this year with the Chevrolet body, but we have made a lot of progress since the beginning of the season. Our fabricator feels so confident about the truck that he believes it will sit on the pole again this year "
1998 Statistics: The Oakwood Homes Racing team started on the pole and finished 14th in the Pennzoil/VIP Discount Tripleheader in 1998.
