Millington, TN- Rick Crawford and the #14 Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford finished in16th place at the Memphis 200 Saturday afternoon. The #14 Ford started the race in 18th position after Fridays qualifying effort.
The #14 Ford team worked hard on the truck all weekend, constantly making changes to try to improve the race machine. "We started 18th but we weren't too worried about it because the truck was getting better and better as practice wore on. But, I think we fooled ourselves after Friday's happy hour because the changes made after the last practice did not improve the truck the way we thought it would" stated driver Rick Crawford.
The #14 Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford was holding its own when on lap 43 the #43 truck checked up and got tapped from behind. That tap spun the truck and the #14 Ford almost cleared the wreck but got hit on the left side, cutting the left rear tire and causing it to spin out at the start/finish line. "The only time I want to spin on the front stretch is when I win the race, not getting caught up in a wreck", stated Crawford. The #14 Ford came into the pits and the Heavy Duty Pit Crew went to work on the truck. They changed left side tires, made some adjustments and pulled sheet metal damage away from the tires and sent Crawford on his way without losing a lap. The changes made helped the truck but not enough to keep up with the leaders and the #14 Ford had to settle for a 16th place finish.
The #14 team was able to extend its streak to 32 consecutive races without a DNF, longest current streak on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The Milwaukee Electric Tool Ford also maintains its eighth place in the championship point race.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to the Milwaukee Mile June 30th for the GNC Live Well 200. The race will be televised live on ESPN and broadcast on MRN Radio at 1:00 p.m. EST.
