Regan Smith Remains Driver of #19 Craftsman Truck Ride
Youngster's Confidence Remains High, Looks to Prove Himself at Martinsville
(March 26, 2005) Mooresville, NC -- Contrary to reports of his dismissal, Regan Smith is still in the seat of the #19 Xpress Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In fact, the 21-year-old driver tested earlier this week at Martinsville Speedway in preparation for the April 9th Kroger 200.
"I'm not sure where it started, but I want to clear the air and let everyone know I'm still driving the #19 Chevy Silverado," said Smith. "We are hoping to finalize a sponsor deal for Martinsville and finish strong there. We've been fast this year, but a string of bad luck has kept us in the garage. I'm confident we can turn it around at Martinsville."
Smith has made two starts this season but unfortunately his time on the track has been limited. At Daytona, Smith started 8th, stayed in the top ten for the first thirty laps, and even led for four laps before getting caught up in an accident right before the halfway point of the race. The following week at Fontana he was running 20th early before the engine let go on lap 37, pushing him back to a 32nd place finish.
