Crafton Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Fontana, CA (November 2, 2001) - Matt Crafton of Tulare, Calif. will celebrate his one-year anniversary with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and SealMaster Racing this weekend at California Speedway.
"I still remember that day and my focus was just to get seat time since I had never raced a truck before in my life," stated Matt Crafton, driver of the No. 88 XeSightingSystems.com Silverado and 2000 Champion of the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series.
Crafton qualified 17th and finished an impressive 9th place in the Motorola 200 at California Speedway last year.
Becoming accustomed to driving a truck was just one of the welcome adjustments Crafton was to encounter.
"Driving in snow is similar to when a race vehicle hits oil during a race," stated Crafton. "The weather in Ohio is similar to Tulare but the real fun was driving in snow."
Crafton has collected ten top 10 finishes in his rookie season and was the highest qualifying rookie twice. He currently sits 12th in the point standings just 114 points outside of the top 10 in driver points. As the Raybestos Rookie of the Year points will be awarded, Crafton will finish 3rd behind Ricky Hendrick and Travis Kvapil.
For the Auto Club 200, the No. 88 team will be sporting decals of their products sponsors Braswell Carburetion, Cintas and E-Z UP Instant Shelter as well as their major associate sponsor, XeSighting Systems. XeSighting Systems is a High Performance Xenon Headlamp designed to improve visibility to drivers while being road-friendly to oncoming traffic.
