Federated Auto Parts 250 August 14-15, 1998 Nashville, Tennessee Scot Walters/ Red Man Racing Notes

* Scot Walters and the Red Man/Brewco Motorsports team is looking to avenge their disappointment from last years running of the Federated Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Nashville Speedway USA.

Walters qualified eighth, a career best to date, and ran in the top five for much of the day before a mid-race overheating problem sidelined the No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet truck. Last years race was Walters' second start in the NASCAR Truck Series and came on the heels of a top ten daybue finish at Louisville Motor Speedway.

This year, Walters enters Saturdays race third in the Cintas Rookie of the Year battle and just outside of the top 20 in points, in his first full season in the series.

"We had a great truck here last year," said Walters. "Racing at Nashville is like running at home for me. I've run All Pro cars here and had success, and I ran here last year in these trucks and had a good first half of the race. This year the plan is to take everything we've learned during the year and finish what we started. That means getting a win or for sure a top five finish."

* Scot Walters has as many laps around the Nashville Speedway USA as do most of the veteran drivers in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He competed here from 1992 to 1996 in the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series, starting eight events and recording three top 5 and five top 15 finishes. He also ran the NASCAR Truck race held here in 1997. In all Walters has completed 2157 laps under race conditions, not to mention practice and qualifying laps completed, at the half-mile track.

"I love this track," said Walters. "I've had some great runs in the All America 400 here and this is one of the tracks that gave me my start. So I guess you could say it holds a special place in my heart, and to win here in a truck would have to rank right up there in my book at a dream come true." * Piggly Wiggly Food Stores is the associate sponsor on the No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet for the Federated Auto Parts 250 at Nashville Speedway USA in Nashville, Tennessee. The buying group operates 20 stores in the Middle Tennessee area.
