REUTIMANN'S DETERMINED TO DELIVER CAREER-BESTFINISH AT NASHVILLE
LEBANON, Tenn. (August 10, 2005) -- David Reutimann returns to Nashville Superspeedway aiming to top a hard-fought ninth-place finish he delivered last season in the Toyota Tundra 200.
"We cut down a tire and tore the truck up pretty bad," said Reutimann. "We still ended up with a good finish even though we bungee corded and duct taped the truck together. We qualified the No. 17 NTN Bearings Toyota Tundra on the outside front row and we had a great truck. We would've easily had a top-five finishif it hadn't been for our bad luck. It's important for usto put on agoodshow for Toyota this weekend. You always want to finish strong when your manufacturer is the title sponsor of an event."
Reutimann tested Nashville recently, but he'snot bringing the same truck he tested.
"We tested there during the last week of July, but we didn't like the truck we took," said Reutimann. "So, we are definitely bringing another truck, which we call truck nine. It's the same truck wefinished third with twice at Kansas and Kentucky Speedway. I'm ready to go back to Nashville because it is a good track for us. Before racing a truck there, I raced a Southeast caranda Busch car there."
Reutimann recorded a top-five finish in a Busch car at Nashville in 2003.
"I finished fifth there in Nemechek's 87 car," said Reutimann. "I had only ran a handful of Busch races and it was my first career top-five finish in a Busch car. I also raced the 87 car at Nashville last year, but we didn't doas well. I think we ended up finishing 25th."J Leading the Toyota teams, Reutimann is sixth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings after recording four top-five and six-top 10 finishes in 15 starts.
"We're the top Toyota in points, but the points deal is really tight," said Reutimann. "Anything can change. We just need to stay focused and keep running like we're running and keep moving forward. We're going to try and win every race. We're focusing on all the positives. We know we've given up hundreds of points for whatever reason, but you can't get them back. We've made up a lot of ground and we still have a long way to go. We've been running really good and I'm looking forward to Nashville because it will be another good track for Darrell Waltrip Motorsports. Darrell will be there to support our efforts as well as 9,000 plus Toyota employees. Darrell'salso going to be the Grand Marshalfor the race. It will be a fun weekend for us."
Live race coverage of the Toyota Tundra 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Nashville Superspeedway on August 13th begins atu p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel. MRN Radio will broadcast the event.
