FORT WORTH-DALLAS (May 7, 2004) - Testing continues today at Texas Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as drivers run throughout the afternoon and into the evening under the lights on the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Ultra Motorsports teammates Ted Musgrave and Andy Houston are among several drivers expected back today for the second day of testing. Veteran driver, Ted Musgrave finished 13th in last year's O'Reilly 400k after starting fourth. In last seasons October race at Texas, he drove his Mopar Performance Dodge to a third place finish. Musgrave is hoping for an even better finish next month.
"We've been so close so many times," said Musgrave. "It's a racetrack where we've always had victory within grasps and something would happen towards the end of the race or some unforeseen thing would happen. It's a place we've always had very good race trucks at and either the driver or the gas mileage would be messed up at the very end. It's just something we need to conquer and finally win one or at least put on a better show for ourselves." Houston, who finished the 2003 season with Ultra, enjoys running at Texas for obvious reasons. He was the pole sitter for the October 2003 race where he finished fifth.
"For me, it's always been a pretty good racetrack," said Houston. "I've never won here, but I think my worse finish here in the Truck Series is seventh, and that's out of about seven or eight starts. The first time I came here it was like two laps on the racetrack and I loved it. We were fast. We'd never seen the place before. It's just a great facility. The crowd is awesome here. Every time we have a truck race here it's always a really good crowd. I wish they had four races instead of two on the schedule." Testing resumes today at 1 p.m. Teams are scheduled to run until 10 p.m. tonight.
