WEST ALLIS, Wis. - Steve Portenga and the No. 39 Roto-Rooter Chevrolet Silverado raced to a top-20 finish in the GNC Live Well 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Milwaukee Mile Saturday, June 29. Portenga overcame some adversity to finish 17th in the 36-truck field. Terry Cook won the event.

"Right off the bat we had a left front shock break and it blew out the left front tire," Portenga said. "After that we lost a lap, but we ran with the leaders the rest of the race.

"We were here in 1995 and in the last seven years this place has changed a lot. So has the series. It is a lot more competitive now than it was then. To finish 17th after the day we had is not bad."

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series continues with the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at the Kansas Speedway Saturday, July 6. The race is slated for telecast on ESPN and broadcast on the radio affiliates of the Motor Racing Network.

Portenga has raced twice at the Kansas Speedway. He finished 14th in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 in 2001. He was 18th in a NASCAR Winston West Series race at the track that same season.

"We ran Kansas in the West car last year and in a truck, so we are looking forward to going back," Portenga said. "We are probably two or three races away from really having this series figured out."
