Keven Wood Finishes 21st at Milwaukee Mile

Milwaukee, WI (June 24, 2008) -- Keven Wood in the #21 U.S. Air Force Ford F-150 battled his way to a 21st place finish in the Camping World RV Sales 200 at the Milwaukee Mile.

After qualifying 28th, Keven took the green flag and immediately reported a tight condition during the first caution on lap seven. The no. 21 stayed out on the track hoping that the truck would "dial in" as the tires gained laps. The race resumed on lap 19 and Wood was scored in the 26th position.

Keven used the next several laps to acclimate to the track and learn which groove would work best with the handling conditions of the truck. However by lap 36, leader Johnny Benson passed Keven to put the no. 21 one lap down in the 28th position. He continued with the challenge of finding a groove on the track where the truck would run best with the persisting tight condition.

Crew Chief John Monsam called for the team to pit on lap 69 for fuel, new tires and adjustments to help with the handling issues. Wood returned to the track in the 27th position.

After several more laps and pit stops for adjustments to get a grip on the ill handling truck on lap 88, the no. 21 U.S. Air Force F-150 started to show a turn in the right direction as Wood started running decent lap times. On lap 144, NASCAR waved the caution for rain that came into the area. Keven radioed into the team stating that the truck was handling the best it's been all night. The team decided to pit to make a few more adjustments and returned to the track in the 24th position. Keven gained a few more spots as he moved into the 22nd position when NASCAR put out the red flag for a thunderstorm that passed over the track on lap 147.

NASCAR lifted the red flag due to the thirty minute rain delay and restarted the race on lap 154. The no. 40 truck forced the no. 21 into the wall, but resulted in no caution as Keven kept racing the best he could with mild damage, the caution finally flew on lap 157 from another incident on the track. Under this caution, Monsam called Wood down pit road to assess the damage. However, the 21 team received a penalty for pitting too early with lead lap cars since the no 21 was three laps down. During the pit stop, the team patched up the small damage to the front end and sent Keven back to the track in the 22nd position where he restarted at the tail end of the longest line. Keven pulled away from the race trucks behind him and battled for the 21st position with the no.03 truck and 25 laps left in the event. As the 03 passed him back with three laps to go, Keven made the final pass on the last lap and took the checkered flag in the 21st position.

Keven Wood and the Wood Brothers Racing no. 21 U.S.Air Force F-150 will travel to Memphis Motorsports Park for the O'Reilly 200 on Saturday, June 28th.
