Michelle Theriault to Race in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Memphis
23-Year-Old Female Racer Ready to Return to Full-Time Racing Schedule
MOORESVILLE, NC (June 19, 2009) -- Bristol, Connecticut, native Michelle Theriault has been out of the limelight over the past six months as the former Pro Cup, ARCA and NASCAR Camping World East Series racer focused on her duties as the Communications Manager for 600 Racing, Inc. But now the accomplished racer, who currently resides in Race City USA (Mooresville, North Carolina), is ready to strap the helmet back on and take to the track as she will enter the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series' "MemphisTravel.com 200 presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts" event at Memphis Motorsports Park (TN) on Saturday, June 27th, driving for Mario Gosselin.
"I am looking forward to getting back in a racecar," said Theriault. "My last race was at Greenville-Pickens (SC) in a NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model about six months ago and I have been eager to get back in and race. Mario Gosselin has given me this opportunity to shake off the cobwebs and get as much seat time as I can so that I can get my racing career back on track."
Theriault knows the road to get back into the sport as a driver is tough, but she has already acquired sponsorship help from Mays Solutions and is confident there are other sponsorship opportunities out there to help her get back to the track on a regular basis.
"We are working with Mario on trying to acquire sponsorships to race on a more weekly to regional basis," explained Theriault. "Also, we have MaysSolutions.com on board with us at Memphis. They are supporting us to help get me back behind the wheel. Hopefully that will open other's eyes in seeing the potential opportunities available."
Even though the 23-year-old racer doesn't have experience at Memphis Motorsports Park, Theriault's past experience being a three-time Legends Car Pro division champion and the highest-finishing female in the Camping World East Series, Pro Cup Series (2004 to 2006 seasons) and at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in a NASCAR Whelen All-American Late Model will help her get back up to speed quickly at the track as well as prepare her for her future, which may include running the entire remaining NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 2009 schedule.
"This will be my first time racing at Memphis; however I have raced in the Camping World East Series as well as the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2006 and gained some experience on this style of race track. I am looking to get a feel for the truck. I had a great experience in the Truck Series last year at Kansas Speedway, and I am looking to gain more seat time and hopefully run a full season campaign in the Camping World Truck Series next year."
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series "MemphisTravel.com 200 presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts" will take place on Saturday, June 27th, at Memphis Motorsports Park (TN). The event will be broadcast on SPEED TV and on MRN Radio starting at 5:30pm Eastern.
