David Starr Scores Another Top Ten Finish
Memphis, Tenn...Scoring another top ten finish at the O'Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park moved David Starr and Spears Motorsports one position up the ladder in this year's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series battle
"It wasn't what we had hoped for," said Starr, "but moving up is far better than going backward, so we will take it."
Qualifying in 15th with a 22.967, Starr lined up on the Grid filled with his usual determination. "We definitely didn't qualify where we wanted," said Starr, " but the crew made a bunch of changes and we definitely picked up the pace in 'Happy Hour' which will help us during the race."
Taking the Green Flag, Starr began to move up slowly but surely. "At the start our No. 75 Spears Chevy Silverado wasn't very good, but Dave McCarty and the crew did an awesome job on our first pit stop,' explains Starr. They made all the right adjustments and got me out quickly, which was great. Their fast action allowed us to pick up some spots which really helped."
Continuing his march forward, Starr running in 7th with about 13 laps to go when the caution flew. "On the restart, I was going for position when I got tapped from behind and almost spun," he said, "but I figured we still had enough laps left for me to gain a couple of spots. "With six laps to go, the caution came out again and then things really got crazy. On the restart, I was trying to pass and got tapped again. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but our Spears Chevy wouldn't turn and I was forced to settle for 10th. However, there are a lot of races left and we will be ready to try again next weekend at the Milwaukee Mile.
