DAVID STARR AND SPEARS MOTORSPORTS READY TO ROCK AND ROLL IN MEMPHIS

Ready to rock and roll their way to victory David Starr and the Spears Motorsports crew head for the Memphis, the city famous for both blues and rock and roll, and Round 14 of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, July 23 at Memphis Motorsports Park.

"After having a week off we're definitely really to cut a fast-paced tune," said the popular Texas native. "The combination short track and tri-oval design of the Memphis track makes it a fun and challenging place to race and I definitely like it. Doing well requires a good handling truck and we have that in our Chevy Silverado. With a little help from Lady Luck, we will be good to go."

Currently ranked in 11th in the overall point standings, Starr and everyone at Spears Motorsports are working overtime to get out of their recent slump and back on top of things. "We fought our way to a 10th place finish two weeks ago at Kentucky," says Starr, who fell back as far as 25th. "It certainly wasn't what we wanted. We are a championship caliber team and we know we can do a lot better than we have been doing in the last few races. This is a phenomenal crew and none of the guys have any intention of settling for poor results. We are here to win races and that is what we intend to do."

The O'Reilly 200 will mark Starr's fifth start at Memphis Motorsports Park. "So far my best finish was a 7th in 2002," continues Starr. " Last year, we finished 10th. This year, we plan to better that. The last two times out, Dodge has grabbed the victory. This year, I would like nothing better than to be able to restore the Checkered to Chevrolet. That would really be an honor."

Armed with a tough Chevy truck, great horsepower from Ron Hutter, a highly experienced dedicated crew, and a fantastic sponsor, Spears Motorsports has now added the talents of former truck competitor Rick Carelli as their spotter. "I'm really excited to have Rick aboard," says Starr. "His ability, experience and knowledge will be great and I think he will be a great boon in helping make our way to the front."

Qualifying for this one-day event will take place at 4:30PM ET, with race action starting at 8PM ET. Be sure to check out TruckSeries.com for live qualifying and follow race action on SPEED TV.
