Chad McCumbee Reunited with SS Green Light Racing
Mooresville, NC Wednesday, January 28, 2009 -- SS Green Light Racing is pleased to announce the signing of Chad McCumbee as the driver of its Chevy Silverado truck entry for the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Season. The team is planning to run the #07 ASI LIMITED Chevy Silverado in twelve races in 2009 beginning with the season opening NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona on February 13th. The team is hopeful to profile this exciting driver and secure additional sponsorship to compete in the balance of the races in 2009.
The 24 year-old native of Supply, NC drove for the Mooresville, NC based team during the 2006 and 2007 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. McCumbee has a total of 31 starts for the SS Green Light team with four top-ten finishes with a best finish of seventh which he achieved on several occasions. In all, McCumbee has a total of 71 starts in the Truck Series along with eight NASCAR Sprint Cup starts driving for the famed Richard Petty.
Despite his age, McCumbee has accomplished much both behind the wheel and behind the camera, staring in ESPN's 2004 production of "3: The Dale Earnhardt Story" in which he portrayed Dale Earnhardt Jr. and was able to showcase his driving abilities as well as his acting skills. Chad's racing carrier began at the age of ten racing go-carts collecting nearly 100 victories in five seasons before moving in to Allison Legacy Series, Late Models and the ARCA Re/Max Series where he finished fourth in points in 2005 before moving into the Truck Series full time in 2006 along with partial schedules in the Sprint Cup Series in 2007 and 2008.
No one is happier to see McCumbee behind the wheel of his trucks than SS Green Light co-owner Bobby Dotter, "I think Chad has the most raw talent of any driver we've ever had. We didn't always give him the best equipment in the past but we have a new package this year and we feel our trucks will be able to run in the top-10 each time we race. I'm looking forward to seeing the Chad running up front where he belongs."
"I'm really happy to be back together with SS Green Light Racing. Bobby and this team has done so much for me in the past, I have the utmost respect for them," Said McCumbee. "They have come along way with their program and I think we will be very competitive this season."
Ken Smith, co-owner of SS Green Light Racing and President of ASI, LIMITED is expecting a front running truck each week. "Bobby and I are very pleased to have Chad behind the wheel of our ASI LIMITED Chevy's this year. He has developed his skills over the last few years and we have improved our program substantially for 2009. I believe we can run consistently in the top ten and compete for top-five finishes. We are planning a minimum of twelve races with Chad and more if we can secure additional funding. I'm very excited about the direction of our race team."
