Davin Scites Pumped About Martinsville; Ready To Roar In NASCAR Debut
Martinsville, Virginia - - It's been a quiet year for racecar driver Davin Scites, but that's all about to change, as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will storm into their final short track event of the 2004 season from the legendary Martinsville Speedway. Joining the stout entry list includes the No. 20 ASILIMITED Chevrolet Silverado of Scites.
Scites, who works for American Speed Association's SS Racing is prepared to step up to plate and hit a home run and prove that the lack of seat time in a new series doesn't mean you can't be impressive.
"I'm so excited about this weekend, I can't even sleep," said Scites. "I've been waiting for an opportunity like this my entire life, the rest is up to me."
Scites, a native of West Virginia is no stranger to victory lane as a rookie. In 2003, Scites piloted his No. 06 Chevrolet to a popular ASA victory at the coveted Concord Speedway in North Carolina, a track that Scites calls "home."
"Winning the ASA race has been one of the best moments of my racing career. We overcame a lot of odds that night, but we were able to prove that determination and teamwork wins. That is the same attitude we'll take to Martinsville this weekend."
With no prior experience in NASCAR, or the "tough trucks," Scites along with his SS Racing crew recently conducted a test at Caraway Speedway last week with promising results. "I've very pleased with the way the test went last week," continued Scites. "It took a couple laps to get to use to the truck, but after I got in a rhythm, things were looking up for the team. We have a lot of confidence heading into the weekend, and a good test session only helped that cause."
Indeed, the 29-year old sensation will have plenty of experience with him this weekend. Current part-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver, American Speed Association champion and teammate Butch Miller will be in the pits calling the shots for the former late model driver this weekend.
"To have Butch coaching me this weekend is awesome. He is a great teammate, he's been helpful, I know he's going to give me a lot of pointers, and I know with his experience and my attitude, there's no reason why a top-ten finish or even a stunning victory is out of the question."
Miller has competed in two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events this season at Indianapolis Raceway Park, and Richmond International Raceway. After starting 27th at IRP, Miller stood his ground and finished a very competitive 24th.
In Richmond, Miller qualified a distant 30th, but was able to master his way though the pack. A late race spin wasn't going to keep Miller from a stout finish, he finished 15th.
ASILIMITED will once again return as the primary sponsor of the No. 20 this weekend. ASILIMITED is owned and operated by Ken Smith, owner of SS Racing in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and American Speed Association.
ASILIMITED was incorporated in 1989 with the intent of being a full service Glazing Contractor.
ASILIMITED continues to be a leader in the Building Enclosure Industry because of their expertise and an ability to adapt to an ever-changing industry. They have exemplified this over the last decade with our commitment to customer satisfaction.
With some solid finishes under the team's belt, Scites looks to continue to climb the ladder in the race results and give himself and his team high hopes for the 2005 season.
