DAVID STARR AND THE SPEARS MOTORSPORTS CREW LOOK FORWARD TO MARTINSVILLE

Filled with enthusiasm David Starr and the Spears Motorsports crew are looking forward to once again mounting a charge to victory when Round 21 of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series roars to life at Martinsville Speedway, Saturday, October 22.

"It seems like we have been off forever," says Starr. Now, it is time to go racing again. I don't like big gaps in the schedule. Four weeks between races is way to long for me and I am definitely eager to get behind the wheel of my Spears Chevy Silverado. Our last race was Las Vegas and we had a great run ending on the Podium in third and moved up two positions in the point chase. Now we are ready to do it again."

Holding down 8th place in this year's standings, Starr is looking for a top finish at each and every one of the five races left this season. "We are only 86 points out of 5th," he says, "and being able to take over that spot is definitely a realistic goal."

Running the No. 75 Spears Chevy at Martinsville since 2002, Starr's best finish to date has been an eighth. "We've always run well here, but this track produces wild wheel-to-wheel racing from start to finish and it sure is easy to get knocked out of position. You need a good handling truck, one that turns good in the center and has good forward bite off the corners and we know our Spears Chevy is definitely up to the task. The other important factor is being able to save your equipment, especially your brakes. The big trick is, if you want to win, you have to be there at the end. I began my career in this type of competition and it is definitely fun for me and very close to my heart. No one holds a monopoly at this track. In fact, out of 13 truck events held here, only one driver has taken the win twice and that pretty much says it all."

Eager to add their name to the long list of winners, Starr and the entire Spears Motorsports crew are feeling strong and are ready for action. "We struggled a few places this season," explains Starr. "Now it is our turn for a win and I can't think of a better place for our first 2005 win than Martinsville Speedway."

Qualifying for the Kroger 200 takes place on Friday, October 21 at approximately 4:45 PM (ET) and racers take the Green Flag on Saturday, October 22 at 1 PM (ET). Check out TruckSeries.com for live qualifying and if you can't be there in person, watch all the race action on SPEED TV.
