Hamilton Jr. on going to Mansfield Motorsports Speedway: "Team Manager Danny Gill has talked to me about the race track a lot and of course Bobby Hamilton Racing has won there as recently as last year. I know that the groove starts in the middle to the high side and by the end of the race it is down on the bottom. Danny also told me about a couple of tracks that we have run that are similar to Mansfield. We also have four hours of practice time on the first day. With the notes that we have, we should be pretty decent when we unload the Fastenal Dodge. Then we won't work on the truck so much as work on the driver and get him accustomed to the track. It is short track racing, and we need to get as many points as we can. As far as typical short track racing, honestly I don't like it that much. But it does help put Dodge back even with the Toyotas and Fords. It is no big secret we have real big fenders on our trucks and that makes us create more drag going down the straightaways. That is why they beat us so bad on the big tracks. On the smaller tracks, like Mansfield, that is where we can gain all our points. If I get to choose, I would be at Charlotte or Atlanta or Kansas City every week. NASCAR is looking at something -- they know we have some issues on these bigger tracks. We have to make up our points on these short tracks right now."
Does Bobby Hamilton Racing's past success at Mansfield provide some confidence to you? "We have the notes, have the experience, BHR has been there done that. I don't think they have finished very far back since they started at Mansfield so that does help as far as a confidence factor goes. With all the talented crew guys and with all the Dodge guys, we feel like we can lean on some folks for advice and find out how to get around there fairly quickly."
Crew Chief Danny Rollins on Mansfield: "It does give us some confidence knowing that we won with Bobby Sr. there last year. He drove a masterful race. I think we have a good set up. I was kind of worried when they talked about repaving the race track. Because I thought it was going to be a whole new deal for us. I thought we might need a whole new set up, but I am planning on plugging the exact same set up in that worked so well for us last year. The truck wasn't perfect last year when we won and Bobby made up for a lot of it as well. We are just going to keep working on it and trying to make the truck as good as possible for Bobby. I am pretty fired up about going up to Mansfield. I like short track racing. It is the part afterwards that is kind of rough, when you have to put a whole new body on."
