Mansfield Motorsports Speedway Next on the Schedule for Craftsman Truck Series Raybestos Rookie and the No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado Team
Mansfield, OH (May 24, 2006) - It is back to short track action in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) for Aric Almirola and the No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado team.
The City of Mansfield 250 at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway is race number seven of the 25-race NCTS 2006 season.
Coming off his season-best ninth place finish at Lowe's Motor Speedway and second consecutive Raybestos Rookie of the Race award, the 21-year old feels like momentum is on the side.
"I'm really looking forward to going anywhere with this race team right now!" said Almirola, a native of Tampa, FL. "We're looking good and have ran consistent the last few races. We seem to get better and better each week; my crew chief Dave McCarty and I are starting to figure each other out and communicating better.
"I'm ready for Mansfield, they say that the fans go crazy up there and I'm really looking forward to racing in front of a sell out crowd in Ohio. I hope I can get some free time to go visit the prison where the movie 'Shawshank Redemption' was filmed. I'm hoping we can leave Mansfield with another top-10 finish in my Spears Manufacturing Silverado."
Almirola is "on loan" to the Spears Manufacturing Silverado team from Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) where he is a under a driver development contract. He will compete the full 2006 NCTS season behind the wheel of the No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado and run selected races for JGR in the NASCAR Busch Series.
An open practice day is on tap for Thursday, May 25 followed by race practice and qualifying on Friday, May 26 beginning at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
The 250-lap/125-mile race start is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. SPEED TV, MRN Radio and XM Satellite Radio will provide live broadcast coverage of the race.
